Q: What kind of sewing machines will students use?
A: I have few different machins, new and old, that will help students become comfortable with most any machine they sit down at. I even have a serger for more advanced students!
Q: What if I dont own my own sewing machine?
A: No problem! You wont need one to take my classes, but I know after taking a few classes you will wan’t to own you one. Please let me help you find a machine though. I can help you not to make the same mistakes I did when buying my first machine.
Q: If I have a basic knowledge of how to use a sewing machine can we skip ahead to something more advanced?
A: Absolutely! That’s what’s great about private lessons. I can tailor the program to your abilities and how fast you learn!
Q: Are all supplies included in the cost of lessons?
A: Most supplies will be covered. I will ask students to bring fabric for project and pieces for “upcycled” projects. The cost will usually be minimal and I can help give tips(and coupons). Picking your own fabric is creative and carries out your vision rather then mine. I think any student young or old will find joy in this part. I will give you a general idea of what you are to look for and will do my best to always be available if you need further guidance.
Q: Are the projects listed the only ones you offer?
A: No, I have lots of ideas. If you have something in mind please tell me! I’d love to work with you on it. Please communicate with me before buying a pattern so I can make sure its something that will work for both of us. Some patterns that look easy may have more to them then you think. I’d be happy to work through them with you but want you to know what to expect. I don’t want you to start something to soon that might be frustrating to you or take several classes to complete. There are tons of great projects that will be enjoyable with great outcomes.
Q: Can I drop my child off for lessons?
A: As long as you come back for them. 😉
Q: What if I can’t make it to a class?
A: Try to give me as much notice as possible. I’m a flexible person but my time, like yours, is important to me. I’d rather lots of communication apposed to being in the dark till the last minuet
Q:Will there be any “homework”?
A: Yes, but the fun kind! If there is something that can be done at home to cut down on class time I will send it home. For some projects you might be asked to bring in an idem for “upcycleing” projects, or bring some fabric of your choice for other projects.
Some facts about me and my home
We are a Christian family We believe that Christ is the one true King. “I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 We strive in all things to be Christ like. “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” Ephesians 5:1-2
We have animals We have three well behaved service dogs and one cat. Although our dogs are well trained and accustomed to children, we understand and will happily put our dogs away if you are the least bit uncomfortable with them around. I will most likely do this with out you asking, I want everyone to feel comfortable in my home during the services you a paying for.
We are homeschooling family My children will always be home with me. I have a seven year old son and a two year old daughter. They are accustomed to guests and my need for limited interruptions when working with others. That being said, they are children, training up children is a never ending job. In the unlikely event that your class time is interrupted by said children, your time will be reimbursed by extending the class time or making up the time at a later date.
